woman rescues 64-yr-old father from leopard in champawat
Rudrapur, July 19 -- A 64-year-old man had a narrow escape on Friday after his daughter intervened to rescue him from a leopard which entered his home in Champawat and attacked him while he was watching television late at night, said forest officials.
The man, identified as Suresh Chandra Pande, was hospitalised after the incident, which occurred at Simalta village.
Officials said Pande's 35-year-old daughter Kiran Pande threw a quilt over the animal before locking it inside a room, which allowed her father time to escape.
"Our team rushed to the spot and shifted the injured man to the district hospital for treatment. The leopard was tranquilised and is being sent to the rescue centre in Almora," said Champawat sub-divisional officer with the forest department Sunil Kumar. htc...
