India, Oct. 15 -- The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Uttarakhand Subordinate Service Selection Commission (UKSSSC) graduate-level exam paper leak has found loopholes such as lack of jammer coverage across the premises of the exam centre and absence of 24x7 monitoring of the centre by authorities a day before the examination, - leading to accused Khalid being able to exploit the situation at a centre in Haridwar. Khalid appeared for the September 21 exam at a centre in Bahadurpur Jat, Haridwar, where he used a mobile phone to photograph and send three pages of the question paper to his sister, Sabia, who then forwarded the images to Suman, an assistant professor in Tehri Garhwal, who solved the questions and sent the answers back. Rishikesh superintendent of police (SP) and SIT chief Jaya Baloni said, "We found that there were jammers with 5G bandwidth installed in classrooms, but accused Khalid exploited the fact that there was no coverage in the toilet, around 60-70 metres away from the classroom. The jammers have a range of 10-15 metres. They cover the classroom and even the gallery, but couldn't cover the bathroom. He was aware of this fact. Also, he was able to take the mobile phone inside the exam centre a day before the exam. He hid the mobile phone at the exam centre a day before the exam as there is no 24x7 monitoring of the exam centres. No permanent deployment is done at the exam centre... it is not feasible...Our probe into the matter is still at an initial stage. It will take some time to be completed," she said. The UKSSSC has decided to plug all possible loopholes to maintain the integrity of all future exams. A board meeting of the UKSSSC was held in this regard on September 30. "From live streaming of exam centres to increasing jammer coverage across the entire premises, we will introduce new measures and whatever is required," said GS Martolia, UKSSSC chairman. "We have been discussing all aspects related to maintaining the integrity of the exams and strengthening our process. We will plug all possible loopholes that might be exploited," he said....
