Truck hits tractor; man falls off Dwarka E-way, dies
Gurugram, June 28 -- A 30-year-old man died after falling from the Dwarka Expressway flyover onto the service lane when a speeding container truck allegedly rammed a tractor-trolley from behind near Sector 88 in Gurugram early Friday, police said on Saturday. The truck driver has been arrested.
The deceased, Mithilesh Kumar of Sirohi in Chhattisgarh's Balrampur district, was among five workers returning to Dhankot from a construction site in Sector 99 between 3.15 am and 3.30am, police said. Four others were injuries and are stable.
"The front tyre of truck exploded and its driver fled after abandoning it at the spot. From the impact, Kumar was flung in the air and he fell at least 60-70 feet below on the service lane from the flyover resulting in his death," a senior officer said.
Police said commuters alerted the control room, following which the injured were shifted to the Civil Hospital in Sector 10A.
Sandeep Turan, public relations officer of Gurugram police, said the arrested truck driver is from Bharatpur, Rajasthan. "He told police that he had failed to spot the tractor," Turan said.
