Teen apprehended for stabbing 12-yr-old to death in Faridabad
Gurugram, Oct. 6 -- A 12-year-old boy was allegedly stabbed to death by a 13-year-old boy following an argument while they were playing outside their homes in Faridabad's Sector 56 on Sunday night, police said on Monday.
The victim was playing with his one-year-old sister outside his home in Block 14 of Ashiana Flats around 7.30pm when the other boy, who lives in Block 13, joined them, police said.
The victim's family, originally from Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh, had been living at Ashiana Flats for the past five years.
A senior police officer said the two boys got into an argument after the victim playfully slapped the 13-year-old while they were joking with each other. The argument turned into a scuffle.
"The elder boy became angry. During the scuffle, he found a sharp piece of metal lying nearby, picked it up and stabbed the victim in the chest. The victim collapsed and the boy fled the spot," the officer said.
The victim's uncle told police that neighbours first alerted the family about the incident over the phone.
Family members rushed to the spot and took the boy in a private vehicle to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Police said the body was sent to Badshah Khan Civil Hospital, where an autopsy was conducted on Monday before it was handed over to the family.
According to the family, the two boys knew each other and frequently played together in the area along with several other children. They said there had been no previous dispute between them.
Following the incident, residents staged a protest for around two to three hours, leading to tension in the area. Police said the protesters were pacified and the situation brought under control.
Yashpal Yadav, public relations officer of Faridabad police, said an FIR was registered on the complaint of the victim's father under Section 103(1) (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Sector 58 police station on Sunday night.
"The child in conflict with law was apprehended within a few hours of the incident. He will be produced before the Juvenile Justice Board for further legal action as per law," Yadav said.
Police said the sharp object allegedly used in the stabbing was yet to be recovered....
