New Delhi, Aug. 31 -- Students at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi have paused their protest over the alleged death by suicide of a 31-year-old MSc Physics student until an external inquiry committee submits its report, a students' body said on Sunday. The protest began on August 24, two days after the death. The students said they halted it on August 29 after the administration accepted their demand for an external inquiry committee. "The protest has been paused until the report is shared with all students, faculty, and staff," the statement said. Students will highlight alleged lapses in IIT Delhi's mental health support system. They demanded Rs.1 crore compensation for the student's mother. IIT director Rangan Banerjee said discussions were underway with Kumar's family and friends.
