Gurugram, Oct. 6 -- A speeding Thar crashed into a motorcycle rider coming from the opposite direction after one carriageway of the bypass road in Sector 37, Faridabad was blocked, police said on Sunday. The incident took place near Universal Hospital around 11.15pm on Saturday. Sub-inspector Ved Prakash, additional station house officer of Sarai Khawaja police station said drivers of both vehicles sustained injuries in the accident. "While the driver of the Thar is in stable condition, the motorcycle rider is grievously wounded and is expected to undergo an operation by Monday," Prakash said. Investigators said, based on preliminary findings, the Thar ran over the motorcyclist, with the wheel of his bike stuck in the driver's side of the SUV. The impact dragged the motorcycle rider under the Thar, which climbed onto the road divider. Police identified the motorcycle rider as Jagdish, 25, resident of Agwanpur village in Faridabad's Palla area. Following the crash, a crowd gathered at the scene and called the police. An ERV rushed to the site and the victim was pulled out with the assistance of bystanders, Prakash said. He was later admitted to a nearby hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment. Officials said the victim's family is expected to submit a formal complaint against the driver of the Thar, identified as Pradeep Verma, resident of New Delhi. An FIR under relevant provisions of BNS and the Motor Vehicle Act would be registered once a formal statement of the victim is recorded. "The driver of the black Thar had fled from the spot after the incident. He was later found to be admitted to a private hospital, receiving treatment for bruises and cuts on his face and hands. The vehicle registered under his name was seized from the spot," Prakash said. A 33-year-old delivery agent of a private company was mowed down by an unknown vehicle at approximately 11.30am, police said. The delivery agent was riding his bike when he was hit from behind and the offending driver fled the scene, Prakash said, adding that the victim was declared dead in the hospital....
