s Delhi woman pours hot oil over husband amid dispute
New Delhi, Oct. 9 -- A 28-year-old man suffered severe burns after his wife allegedly poured hot oil on him while he was asleep and then threw chilli powder over his wounds in south Delhi's Madangir last week, police said on Wednesday.
The victim, Dinesh Kumar, who works with a pharmaceutical company, was first taken to Madan Mohan Malviya Hospital and later shifted to Safdarjung Hospital for further treatment. In his complaint, Kumar said his wife, Sadhna, attacked him around 3.15am on October 2 while he was sleeping beside their four-year-old daughter. "He woke up with a burning sensation to find his wife holding a container of hot oil," said DCP (south) Ankit Chauhan. "She then threw chilli powder on him and threatened to pour more oil if he raised an alarm."
Hearing his screams, the landlord rushed in and called Kumar's brother-in-law, Ram Sagar, who took him to the hospital. A case under relevant sections of the BNS was registered.
Police said the couple, originally from Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh, had frequent disputes. "Our investigation revealed that the woman had earlier filed a complaint at the Crime Against Women (CAW) Cell two years ago. The matter was resolved, but she filed another complaint a few weeks ago," an officer said. Police said she has not been arrested yet as the investigation is at an initial stage....
