MCG clears illegal vends, kiosks across gurugram
Gurugram, Aug. 13 -- The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram's (MCG) street vending management team has intensified its drive against illegal encroachments on roads, footpaths, green belts, and public spaces, covering Mayfield Garden, Nirvana Central Road, Islampur, Sector 38, Sohna Road, Badshahpur, Subhash Chowk, Sant Ravidas Marg, Laxman Vihar, Railway Road, and Sector 47.
Unauthorised structures, handcarts, stalls, kiosks, sheds, and tin shelters were removed, with vendors warned of penalties and confiscation if they return.
MCG commissioner Pradeep Dahiya said, "Our goal is to make Gurugram a clean, organised, and encroachment-free city." Residents welcomed the move, citing blocked footpaths and sanitation issues. "It's high time the authorities acted," said Rajesh Arora of Sector 47. However, some, like Sunil Mehta of Sohna Road, warned vendors might return. MCG assured regular inspections to sustain the impact, improve traffic flow, enhance safety, and maintain aesthetics....
