New Delhi, Sept. 8 -- A 54-year-old music teacher from Manipur died after being allegedly assaulted by a group of eight people outside his rented flat in southeast Delhi's Kilokari village late on Sunday, after he objected to a commotion they were creating near his home, police said Monday. The victim, Vikram Singh Chongtham, who lived with his wife and 20-year-old son, had gone downstairs around 11.30pm when he confronted workers from nearby dhabas, police said. According to activist B Ruchida Sharma, "They chased him to the third floor, overpowered him in the corridor and rained blows on him before fleeing." He died during treatment at a Okhla hospital around 7am. Deputy commissioner of police (Southeast) Vineet Kumar confirmed the case. Police lodged an FIR under relevant BNS sections against seven men, aged 19 to 36. Seven of the accused were arrested, while a 15-year-old boy was apprehended, police added.
