Gurugram, Oct. 26 -- A 27-year-old man in Faridabad was arrested on Friday for allegedly killing his three-year-old stepson on October 19, investigators said. Police said the accused, Prashant Kumar, punched the boy repeatedly in the abdomen at their Aryanagar house over his wife Chandni Devi's consistent refusal to send the child to his maternal grandparents in Bihar. The incident took place after Devi, 25, went for Diwali shopping, leaving the boy with Kumar. The child cried, which infuriated Kumar, and he punched him, causing severe internal injuries, police said. When Devi returned, she found him unconscious in vomit. Kumar then took the boy on his motorcycle under the pretext of taking him to a doctor but dumped him in a plot in Sector 58 and fled, they added. Devi filed a missing complaint at the Ballabgarh police station. After his arrest, Kumar purportedly confessed, and police recovered the body from Sector 58. Yashpal Yadav, spokesperson of Faridabad police, said the body was in an advanced stage of decomposition. "An autopsy was conducted... From the report, it will be clear if the child was also throttled," Yadav added. Kumar was taken on one-day police remand after production in court. Police said the boy was from Devi's first marriage to Raju Yadav. Kumar, who knew Devi through her brother-in-law, pressured her to send the boy away. A senior police official said, "Kumar, meanwhile, developed a hatred for the boy as Devi became pregnant with his child... Thus, he wanted to get rid of the boy." The missing person's complaint was turned into a murder case after his arrest....
