Gurugram, March 22 -- After years of reported delays, a 24-metre-wide road connecting Sector 85 to the Dwarka Expressway was inaugurated on Saturday, providing direct access and easing commutes for nearly 7,000 residents across five societies.
The two-kilometre road, inaugurated by cabinet minister Rao Narbir Singh and Gurugram deputy commissioner (DC) Ajay Kumar, connects the societies to the main road, reducing reliance on narrow, congested internal routes and long detours that added several kilometres to daily commutes, officials said.
The issue, pending for years, was taken up at a District Public Grievance & Redressal Committee meeting chaired by Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini, following which land-related complications were resolved in coordination with Godrej Properties, officials said.
"In the recent master plans, there were no provisions to expand 24-metre roads within the internal sectors. The Haryana government is committed to ensuring Gurugram gets the much-needed 24-metre roads," said Rao Narbir Singh.
"The issue came to light in our grievance committee... This long-pending access problem has finally been addressed," said DC Kumar.
Residents said the road will significantly improve accessibility. RD Deshpande, secretary of Rise Always Welfare Society, said, "With the road now functional, we don't have to travel extra kilometers to reach our homes."
Advocate Monica Singh, a resident of Godrej Air, said: "Earlier, due to the poor condition of roads, school buses could not enter the societies. Parents had to walk several kilometres."...
