Gurugram, Sept. 29 -- Additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of Gurugram Sonu Bhatt on Monday directed officials to complete road-safety works within stipulated timelines and improve coordination during a District Road Safety Committee meeting at the Mini Secretariat. The committee reviewed black spots on National Highways 48 and 248A, pedestrian crossings, school zones and traffic enforcement. At Sector 31, signboards, markings, studs, lighting and jersey-barrier expansion were completed and an unauthorised cut opposite Fauji Dhaba closed, officials reported. At Panchgaon Chowk, signs, markings and studs were installed, with median railing pending. To be sure, the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority has floated a tender for pedestrian-crossing improvements at 32 locations, targeted for completion by September 30, 2026. Officials also proposed a 4-5ft iron grille on Gurugram-Sohna Road. Under the Safe School Vehicle Policy, officials reported 191 school buses inspected till August 31, with 26 challans. A safe school zone proposal for Government Senior Secondary School, Bhondsi, was sent to NHAI headquarters. Officials told the ADC that August saw 250 overloading challans and Rs.1.47 crore in compounding amounts, while 2,198 drunk-driving challans and 1,755 licence-suspension recommendations were recorded between July 22 and August 30....
