Gurugram, Oct. 3 -- Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini on Friday ordered the suspension of two regional officers of the Haryana State Pollution Control Board over the improper operation of a sewage treatment plant (STP) in Gurugram. Saini said strict action would be taken against officials found negligent in addressing citizens' complaints, adding that officers' ground-level performance would be reflected in their annual confidential reports (ACRs). Saini issued the directions while chairing a review meeting on development projects, civic facilities and public grievances in Gurugram. Addressing the media, Saini said, "A grievance is not resolved merely by closing a file. Genuine resolution will be considered only when the concerned citizen receives relief and confirms that the problem has been resolved." Saini directed officials to strengthen existing infrastructure while planning for adequate roads, traffic management, drinking water, residential and commercial facilities, markets, green belts, parks, and sports and recreational facilities. He asked officials to conduct special drives for regular and systematic waste collection and set clear timelines and daily targets for the exercise. Saini reviewed the disposal of legacy waste at the Bandhwari landfill and asked officials to complete it by the end of February 2027. Saini directed police and other concerned departments to identify and impound vehicles bringing waste from Delhi and dumping it in Gurugram and impose heavy penalties on violators. He directed officials to treat C&D waste as an environmental challenge, with the collection and disposal to be monitored. The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) on Friday suspended a junior engineer for allegedly marking an "unresolved" sewerage complaint as "resolved" on the e-Samadhan portal....
