Clash over temple in Gurugram's Sec 85
Gurugram, Aug. 12 -- A clash broke out between residents of a Sector-85 society and about a dozen suspects early Monday after they allegedly tried to remove a makeshift Shiva temple near the society, police said.
The incident took place between 3am and 4am, prompting police to intervene. Investigators said residents had set up a Shivling on a corner of a green belt connected to the premises for worship during Sawan, as there was no nearby temple. The developer opposed it, claiming the land was outside society limits. Inspector Virender Khatri, SHO of Kherki Daula police station, said the developer had complained of it a week earlier.
"The developer had agreed to allot an area inside the society. residents had been assured they would remove the structure by Friday," he said. When it was not removed, the developer's men attempted its removal, triggering the clash....
