Chandigarh, April 28 -- Bhavan Vidyalaya, New Chandigarh marked World Book Day 2026 with week-long activities conducted for Classes 1 to 11 from April 20 to 24. The library department organised a series of engaging initiatives to instill a love for reading and strengthen students' bond with books. The celebrations commenced with the inauguration of the Class Library System for Classes 1 and 2, where books are now issued directly in classrooms to make reading more accessible for young learners. The entire school participated in the Drop Everything And Read (DEAR) initiative, where students and staff paused routine work to spend time reading together. To encourage collaborative reading, Classes 1 to 3 took part in 'Book Sharing Bond', an activity where students exchanged and recommended books to friends, fostering friendship through stories. Classes 4 and 5 showcased their creativity in 'Just A Minute' Storytelling sessions held in the library, where students narrated tales in sixty seconds, building confidence and imagination. For Classes 6 to 8, an exciting Book Hunt was organised during library periods. The clue-based activity helped students explore the library and become familiar with its resources. Classes 9, 10 and 11 students attended a reading motivational session for enhancing reading habits, with a focus on exploring diverse genres and developing consistent reading habits. This was followed by Book Title Antakshari, a lively game where students recalled book titles in sequence, making learning fun and interactive.
