India, April 30 -- T he tragic death of four members of a family, including two teenagers, in Mumbai on Sunday - after symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhoea - has drawn attention to what they consumed hours earlier: watermelon. Pravin Mundhe, Deputy Commissioner of Police, said the family had consumed biryani with relatives for dinner, after which only the family of four ate watermelon around 1-1.30am. By Sunday morning, all four began experiencing vomiting and loose motions and succumbed, despite being rushed to the hospital. Authorities have since launched an investigation and the exact cause of death remains unconfirmed. The incident has sparked widespread concern and panic about the safety of the fruit.
