Two Agniveer trainees die of meningitis at ARC Shillong
Shillong, Feb. 26 -- Two Agniveer trainees undergoing training at the Assam Regimental Centre (ARC) in Shillong have died of a suspected meningococcal bacterial infection, while 28 other trainees are under medical observation at the Military Hospital Shillong, officials said on Wednesday.
One trainee died last week and another succumbed on Monday after both developed symptoms consistent with meningococcal infection. They had been admitted to the Military Hospital for treatment but could not be saved, officials said.
