Straight out of Kantara: Fans react to Tilak's century after chat with Hardik

umbai Indians' batsman Tilak Varma scripted a stunning turnaround against the Gujarat Titans in Monday's IPL match in Ahmedabad. Since it followed an intense mid-innings chat with MI captain Hardik Pandya, many fans said it felt straight out of the Kannada film Kantara (2022).
Fans are referring to the film's climax, in which the protagonist, a rebellious man from a village who initially rejects a traditional ritual, undergoes a powerful transformation after a spirit whispers instructions and blessings into his ear.
In a similar vein, Tilak struggled early on, making just 17 off his first 20 balls. Then, during the strategic timeout, Hardik was seen in an animated conversation with the 23-year-old. After the break, Tilak took on cricketer Prasidh Krishna, smashing 14 runs off his first three balls. He went on to score his maiden IPL century, finishing unbeaten on 101 off 45 balls.
The internet quickly drew parallels to the Kannada movie (inset right), calling it "straight out of Kantara".
Post-match, Pandya revealed what he told Tilak, saying, "My message to him was just watch the ball and hit the ball. Was about time he came out and delivered." And deliver he did. HTC...
