St Xavier`s Sr Sec School hosts seminar on safe digital banking
Chandigarh, Dec. 17 -- Consumer Education and Protection Cell of Reserve Bank of India conducted a seminar at St Xavier`s Senior Secondary School, Sector 44 C, Chandigarh on "Safe Digital Banking, Cybercrime, and Frauds". Around 200 students from Class 9 to 12 attended the session with their teachers.
The session was conducted by a distinguished resource person, Md Arif Ansari, who has a wealth of experience in digital security and consumer protection. "The shift from manual to digital banking has made transactions faster and more accessible, but it has also opened the door to new fraud tactics and cybercrimes. How to spot these fraud scams and fix them is a reason for worry," said Ansari while addressing the students.
He also discussed various types of banking frauds/scams like Phishing, Account takeover, fake-call-scams, ATM skimming, Social Engineering, Fake Investment Offer, Malware attack and Digital Arrest etc. He advised to keep software updated, use strong unique passwords, enable alerts for unusual transactions, never share OTPs, PIN or full card numbers via email, SMS or phone. "If you think you have been scammed, block your card, change password and report to bank and local cyber-crime helpline right away", he added....
