Chandigarh, Aug. 13 -- The annual event is being organised in memory of Andrew John Gosain. It aims to promote excellence in sports while instilling core values of discipline, teamwork, and healthy competition among young athletes. The tournament featured Under-19 girls' teams who competed in a high-intensity league format. A total of eight leading school teams from across the Tricity region-Chandigarh, Mohali, and Panchkula-participated for the prestigious championship title. Results of the matches played on final day are as follows: Hardliner- DAV Senior Secondary School (Lahore) , Sector 8-C, Chandigarh defeated Govt Model High School, Sec 38, Chandigarh by (09-03). The half-time score was (7-3). Top scorer- winner: Prabhnoor, Japjee & Kalpana 2 each ; Deepali, Harmannat and Avni 1 each; Looser: Riya-2, Sahiba -1 Match- final School of Eminence, 3B-1 Mohali defeated St. Xavier`s Senior Secondary School, Chandigarh by (16-06) ; Half-time score was (07-0). Top Scorer- winner: Kusum - 4; Neha and Mahima 3 each; Nazma and Daman -2 each & Anjli and Sukhman 1 each. Looser: Anisha -3; Chahal 2 & Kanishka - 1. Special awards: Top scorer - Simaratpreet Kaur of School of Eminence scored 13 goals in the tournament, best goalkeeper- Manjot Kaur Dhandli of St Xavier's Chandigarh, player of the tournament - Riya of Government Model High School, Sector 38, Chandigarh. Chandan S Patwal , congratulated the winners and appreciated the efforts of the sports department for the grand success of the annual sports event.
