India, Oct. 31 -- F ilmmaker SS Rajamouli has confirmed a 3D animated film set in the world of his blockbuster Baahubali franchise. The announcement comes alongside the theatrical re-release of Baahubali: The Epic, which combines both parts of the original saga. During a promotional interview, Rajamouli revealed that a teaser of the upcoming film titled Baahubali: The Eternal War will be screened during the interval. "People think we will announce Baahubali 3 at the end of the film, but it's not that. This is a continuation of the Baahubali universe in the form of a high-quality 3D animated film," he says. The director shared that the project has been in the works for over two and a half years, with an estimated production cost of around Rs.120 crore. "The scale and technology are on another level," he says, adding that the animation studio behind the popular series Arcane is developing the film under director Ishan Shukla. Rajamouli also showed the teaser to Baahubali stars Prabhas and Rana Daggubati, who were reportedly amazed by its visuals. Prabhas joked, "Rs.120 crore? That was our first part's planning budget." Rajamouli assured fans that Baahubali 3 will happen in the future, saying, "The ultimate story is there."
