Siddaramaiah's son says father in 'final phase' of political life
BENGALURU, Oct. 23 -- Karnataka MLA and CM Siddaramaiah's son, Yathindra Siddaramaiah, on Tuesday sparked a buzz by saying that his father was in the "final phase of his political life", while expressing hope that senior Congress leader Satish Jarkiholi could take up the responsibility, and be a role model who is aligned with the ideology of the Congress party. However, the Congress MLC later ruled out any talks about leadership change.
"My father is now in the final phase of his political life, at the end stage of his political career. At such a time, we need a leader who can guide those who hold rational and progressive ideologies, and take charge of the leadership. Jarkiholi will take on that responsibility. I believe that he will lead us as a model for all politicians and young leaders who believe in the ideology of the Congress party," he said while addressing an event in Belagavi, where Jarkiholi was also present. Describing Jarkiholi as a leader known for his integrity and progressive outlook, Yathindra said: "Satish Jarkiholi has always been known for his secular and progressive approach."...
