Chandigarh, Aug. 6 -- With deep respect and patriotic spirit, Kargil Vijay Diwas was celebrated with great enthusiasm in Shri Kulwant Rai Sarvahitkari Vidya Mandir Sector 43 -B. The aim of the function was to pay tribute to the brave soldiers of the Indian Army who laid down their lives during the Kargil war in 1999 to protect our nation. The program began with the lighting of the lamp by our respected principal. After this, all the students and teachers observed 2 minutes of silence to honor the martyrs of Kargil. The atmosphere was filled with pride and emotion. Students from Classes 1 to 8 participated actively in the program. The junior students recited beautiful patriotic poems, while the students of senior classes delivered inspiring speeches on the importance of Kargil Vijay Diwas and the sacrifices of our soldiers. The school choir presented patriotic songs like 'Sandese aate hain" and 'Vande Mataram' which filled everyone's heart with pride for the country. Addressing the gathering, principal sir spoke about Operation Vijay and how our soldiers fought bravely in the freezing cold and high mountains of Kargil. He reminded the students that we are living in peace today because of the courage and sacrifice of our armed forces. He urged all students to study hard, follow discipline and become responsible citizens who can make the country proud....
