Chandigarh, Sept. 12 -- A 45-year-old man was allegedly assaulted and threatened during a dispute in Sector 49 on Friday, following which one of the accused fired a shot in the air. Police said Raj Kumar, 45, a resident of EWS Colony, Sector 49-C, alleged that Ritesh alias Haddi, along with around 10 others, assaulted and threatened him on Friday afternoon. The accused allegedly attacked him with sticks and pointed a pistol at him. As a crowd gathered at the spot, an accused identified as Ajay allegedly fired a shot in the air and fled, police said. Following the incident, police cordoned off the area and launched a search operation. Ajay was arrested within three hours and the weapon was recovered, police said. A case has been registered against Ajay, Ritesh and others under Sections 190(2) (joint liability in unlawful assembly), 190(3), 125 (endangering life or personal safety), 351(3) (aggravated criminal intimidation) and 61(2) (criminal conspiracy) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with relevant provisions of the Arms Act.htc...
