Mohali, July 20 -- Shemrock Senior Secondary School, Sector 69, Mohali, in collaboration with the India STEM Foundation, successfully hosted the STEM India 2026 Regional Championship, bringing together young innovators and robotics enthusiasts from across the Chandigarh region. The championship was inaugurated with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. The chief guest, Palki Sahib Kaur, inspired participants with her motivating address, encouraging students to embrace innovation and scientific thinking. A total of 17 teams from the Chandigarh region participated in the event, showcasing exceptional robotics innovations, engineering concepts, and problem-solving abilities. To make the championship more engaging, several innovative activities were organised alongside the competition. A live Robotics Challenge tested students' technical skills by requiring them to build robots capable of overcoming obstacles within a limited time. Another highlight was the Tech Talk session, where participants shared their perspectives on the future of Artificial Intelligence, creating an intellectually stimulating and scientific atmosphere. Expressing pride in the students' achievements, principal Parneet Sohal said that it was encouraging to see students displaying such keen interest in technology and innovation. She emphasised that competitions like these not only nurture creativity and critical thinking but also prepare students for future technological challenges. She reaffirmed the school's commitment to promoting scientific learning and innovation. The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, during which winners in the Elementary, Junior, and Senior categories were honoured for their outstanding performances. Several selected teams, including those from Shemrock Senior Secondary School, Mohali, qualified for the WRO India National Championship to be held in Hyderabad.
