Sexual assault charges: Govt lecturer booked, expelled
Srinagar, April 14 -- A senior lecturer at a government higher secondary school in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district was on Monday booked on charges of sexually assaulting a female student, police said.
"We have registered a case against lecturer based on a sexual assault complaint against him," a senior police officer said. Students protested after the matter came to light on Monday, but the situation remained by and large peaceful, he further said.
Meanwhile, the director of the education department has placed the lecturer under suspension and ordered adepartmental inquiry against him.
"Pending inquiry into his conduct, the lecturer, is hereby placed under suspension with immediate effect. Further, the joint director, north, is hereby appointed as Inquiry officer who shall conduct an inquiry and submit a report to this Directorate within 15 days," reads the order of the director of school education....
