Phagwara/ ROHTAK, July 27 -- Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini claimed on Sunday that recurring controversies over recruitment exams in Punjab had shattered the confidence of the state's youth. Addressing a gathering at blood donation camp organised by the Navya Helping Hands Foundation in Phagwara on Sunday, Saini alleged that the government had completely failed to ensure transparency and accountability in recruitment. He said the BJP-led Haryana government was working consistently for the welfare of youth, farmers and economically weaker families and special programmes have been initiated to keep youth away from drugs. Punjab BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon also accused the AAP government of shielding its ministers in paper leak and examination cheating controversies, and failing to uphold accountability. Visiting Ludhiana to attend the felicitation ceremony of Sunil Modgil, who assumed charge as district BJP president, Dhillon criticised AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal for his silence on the controversies in Punjab. Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring asked chief minister Bhagwant Mann to fix accountability by setting a timeline for education minister Harjot Singh Bains' resignation, while pointing out that while AAP sought Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation in Delhi, they were defending their own minister in Punjab. Saini paid tributes to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the nation on the occasion of Kargil Diwas. He urged the youth to follow the ideals of Bhagat Singh by dedicating themselves to nation-building and social service. The blood donation camp was organised under the leadership of Vijay Sampla, chairman, Navya Helping Hands Foundation, former Member of Parliament from Hoshiarpur and former chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes. Sampla said the foundation was established in memory of his granddaughter Navya, who passed away at a young age due to illness. Asserting that no poor family will be left behind and no deserving person will be deprived of opportunities, Saini said the state government's commitment was to ensure that every eligible citizen benefited from welfare schemes without having to struggle for access. Addressing a gathering after inaugurating the Antyodaya Mela organised under the Mukhyamantri Antyodaya Parivar Utthan Yojana at IGN College in Ladwa, he said governance was no longer confined to government offices but had reached doorsteps of poor through a proactive welfare delivery system. He also flagged off the 'Nasha Se Jung-Yamunanagar Ke Sang' anti-drug run in Yamunanagar. Later, after listening to Mann Ki Baat along with citizens at Ladwa, he said Prime Minister Narendra Modi's monthly Mann Ki Baat programme was inspiring the country's youth by showcasing the achievements, skills and entrepreneurial spirit of ordinary citizens who had become role models through hard work and innovation....
