Chandigarh, July 17 -- The Eco Club of Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School celebrated Van Mahotsav with great zeal and environmental commitment in the school auditorium. The event brought together students, teachers, and guests in a celebration dedicated to promoting the importance of afforestation and environmental conservation. The programme commenced with a serene prayer service, followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the chief guest Sunil Kumar, IFS, school principal, Rev Sr Venita Joseph, school manager, Sr Anupa, Rev Sr Alvina and Sr Usha. Chief guest Sunil Kumar, IFS an environmentalist. Kumar was accorded a green welcome with a sapling and was introduced to the audience. His achievements in the field of environmental science and community awareness were also highlighted. The day's events included sapling plantation by chief guest, sisters, club members and teachers, symbolising a collective commitment to a greener future. A song and a thought-provoking skit presented by students emphasised the urgent need to protect nature and plant more trees. The audience was further captivated by a ramp walk based on the theme Save Mother Earth, poetry recitations on planting trees and an energetic Gidha performance that added a cultural vibrance to the occasion. Winners of the inter- house environment quiz competition conducted during the Van Mahotsav celebrations were felicitated during a prize distribution ceremony. The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks, followed by the students singing the Green Anthem, echoing the school's message of sustainable living and eco-consciousness....
