NAGPUR, June 20 -- Global conflicts such as the recent US-Iran war serve as a stark reminder of howvulnerable international supply chains can become duringtimes of crisis, defence minister Rajnath Singh said on Friday. The minister also asserted that only nations that are self-reliant in defence and security can safeguard their interests. Speaking after the 'bhoomi pujan' for a state-of-the-art 10,000-tonne aluminium extrusion press at the OrdnanceFactory Ambajhari in Nagpur, Singh said India has madesignificant strides towardsself-reliance in the defence sector. "A nation capable of meeting its own requirements moves forward with the greatest confidence towards safeguarding its interests," he said. "When wars break out, the entire supply system gets impacted. In such times, every country wants all necessities related to its security toremain in its own hands and be built by its own people," the minister said....
