India, March 15 -- HT Correspondent chandigarh@hindustantimes.com Chandigarh: Rain is likely to bring relief from the recent heat spell from Sunday onwards. Chances of rain will continue on Monday while another Western Disturbance (WD) is also likely to affect the city in the coming week as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Since the start of the month, maximum temperature of the city has remained significantly above normal everyday. As per the IMD officials, this is due to the long spell without rain which extends to February. IMD officials have issued an orange alert for thunderstorm and gusty winds upto 50km/ in the region. Orange is the second highest of the four colour warning system used by the IMD which asks people to be prepared. Hailstorms are also likely during this spell. As per IMD officials a fresh Western Disturbance (WD) will affect the city from Sunday. The system is likely to be strongest on Sunday, while chances of rain will also continue on Monday. As per initial forecasts, another WD is likely to affect the region during the middle of next week. It remains to be seen how strong it will be. Maximum temperature fell from 30.8degC on Friday to 30.1degC on Saturday, still 3.5 degrees above normal. Minimum temperature also fell from 17.1degC on Friday to 15.6degC on Saturday, 2.2 degrees above normal. In the next three days, maximum temperature will remain between 27degC and 29degC while minimum temperature will remain between 15degC and 16degC....
