Punjab cops arrest Amritpal, get two days to grill him
Chandigarh, April 24 -- Punjab Police on Thursday took custody of Sikh radical leader and Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh following the expiry of his detention term under the National Security Act (NSA).
A team from the Punjab Police executed the arrest at Dibrugarh Central Jail in connection with the 2023 Ajnala police station attack.
He was moved from the jail to the Dibrugarh Sadar police station on a two-day remand under heavy security.
The remand allows Punjab cops to interrogate Amritpal regarding his role in the Ajnala incident when a mob allegedly stormed a police station to secure the release of an associate, resulting in several injuries among police personnel.
