India, Aug. 19 -- I n a Chandigarh home, long before boardrooms and billion-dollar milestones, Jasleen Kohli was raised by her parents, Mohinder Singh Kohli and Surinder Kaur, to think independently, work hard and build a life on her own terms. Those values would later shape her journey as a corporate leader. Kohli grew up in Chandigarh, studied at Shivalik Public School and GGS College for Women, and later pursued management at KJ Somaiya Institute of Management, Mumbai. She began her insurance career by working across sales, marketing, operations, customer retention and distribution, eventually taking on senior leadership roles at Bajaj Allianz. Those who know her describe her as grounded, sharp, deeply work-oriented and someone who built her career step by step rather than chasing shortcuts. "Early in my career, I learnt to say yes to responsibilities that felt larger than my experience at that time. A lot of that confidence came from my parents," she says, adding, "They raised me to believe that no opportunity should be refused only because it looks difficult." In 2017, Kohli co-founded Digit Insurance with Kamesh Goyal and became its first employee. She took over as Managing Director and CEO in April 2022, becoming one of the few women leading an insurance company in India. Her leadership has since earned major recognition. "In 2025, I was named Woman Leader of the Year at the Asia Insurance Industry Awards in Singapore, becoming the first Indian woman to receive the honour. I was also ranked 42nd on Business Today's 100 Most Powerful Women in Business 2025," she adds. At Digit, Kohli has focused on making insurance simpler, more transparent and customer-friendly. "Under my leadership, the company crossed $1 billion (approx Rs.9,568 crore) in revenue in FY24," shares Kohli. During her tenure, Digit also became one of the youngest Indian insurers to list on domestic stock exchanges. For Chandigarh, Kohli's journey is a story of pride and a reminder that success is often built quietly, through discipline, family support and the courage to keep moving forward. For Kohli's parents, her achievement is deeply personal. They did not just raise a successful professional; they raised a daughter who carried her roots with her, held on to her values and went on to help build one of India's most admired insurance companies.HTC...
