PM Modi flexes his Gen Z vocab with SRCC's Dhurandhars
India, Sept. 7 -- From saying that simply being from Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) was a "flex" to describing its alumni as "OGs" and slipping in a Dhurandhar reference, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had students cheering during the college's centenary celebrations on Teachers' Day (September 5).
For students selected through a draw, the gathering was a chance to watch the PM address them on their own turf. "He told us our college's 100-year legacy is a big flex. Now, what's a flex is us telling other students that the Prime Minister visited our college," says second-year student Yuvraj Singh Batra.
The slang drew the loudest reactions. "When he used words like 'flex' and 'OG', the whole auditorium erupted into cheers and laughter," says Pratibha Biswal, a second-year student and event volunteer. The PM's references to familiar campus fixtures Crossroads and the Co-op felt more personal. "As an SRite, hearing these terms from the PM felt like validation," she adds.
His line, "Dhurandhar na ho, lekin dhoom toh machayi hai," also caught students by surprise. "It was something we didn't expect coming from the PM," says second-year student Chinmay Mittal.
For second-year student Tanushree Shekhawat, her most unexpected takeaway was lighter: "What caught my attention was how his skin really glowed. I would love to know his skincare routine."...
