Pappu Yadav held after high drama
PATNA, Feb. 8 -- Independent MP from Purnea, Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav, was on Saturday sent to two-day judicial custody hours after he was arrested in a 1995 forgery case amid high drama. However, considering his health condition, he has been allowed to remain under medical observation at a Patna hospital. His bail plea will be heard on Monday.
"He (Yadav) has been taken into judicial custody. However, instead of being sent to jail, it was ordered that he be kept at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) for treatment because his health is not good. As per procedure, the Purnea MP first will go to Beur central jail for legal formalities and then come back to PMCH," advocate Shivnandan Bharti, who represented Yadav in the court, said.
The case dates back to 1995 when one Vinod Bihari Lal registered an FIR, accusing Yadav of renting his house under false pretences. HTC...
