One dead, 5 swept away in Pauri after heavy rainfall
Uttarkashi, Aug. 7 -- Heavy rainfall wreaked havoc in Pauri district of Uttarakhand with five Nepalese being swept away in a swollen stream in Bankura village and two women being buried under debris in Buransi village, officials aware of the matter said. One of the women died and her body has been recovered while search is on for the other woman, they said.
Pauri district magistrate Swati S Bhadauria said, "In Buransi village of Pauri tehsil, two women were trapped under debris.
Rescue workers recovered the body of one of them, while the second woman is still missing, and efforts are on to locate her."
She added, "In a separate incident in Bankura village of Thalisain, five Nepalese labourers were washed away in a swollen stream. Two others were injured and have been shifted to a local hospital. A search operation involving police and disaster response personnel is currently underway."
