Chandigarh, June 14 -- With the monsoon approaching, the chief engineer from the UT engineering department on Saturday reviewed drainage readiness and issued directions for fast-tracking key infrastructure projects. Accompanied by senior officials, the chief engineer assessed the status of road gullies, desilting operations and urban maintenance works, directing field staff to expedite cleaning to prevent waterlogging in vulnerable areas. Special focus was laid on the desilting of Patiala Ki Rao, a critical seasonal rivulet in the city's drainage network. Officials were instructed to ensure that all road gullies remain free of silt, debris and obstructions, noting that timely desilting is essential for smooth stormwater flow during heavy rains.
