India, Aug. 7 -- A ctor Dhanush urged students to prioritise their mother tongue over English during a visit to his alma mater, Thaai Sathya Matriculation School in Chennai, on Tuesday. The actor was there to inaugurate a new three-storey academic block, funded by him and named the Dhanush Block. Addressing students and teachers in Tamil, the 43-year-old recalled struggling with English during his school days but being fluent in Tamil. "When I meet people today, eight out of ten people don't know how to read and write Tamil properly, but they are very good at English. That is a very disheartening situation," he said. Recalling his experience on a French production shot in Belgium, Dhanush said the crew viewed English merely as a bonus after one's mother tongue. Urging students to learn to read and write Tamil, he added, "Saying you don't know Tamil is not something to be proud of. Not knowing your mother tongue is actually shameful. Please give importance to your mother tongue. Please focus on Tamil as well." HTC...
