Karnal, May 19 -- A resident of Ladwa has been arrested for fatally shooting a 47-year-old woman outside her residence in Karnal, officials said on Monday. The accused, Vikas, alias Sanju, of Ladwa, was apprehended after a shootout on Indri Road on Sunday night. He reportedly sustained two bullet wounds to his back. He was admitted to a hospital. The victim, a UHBVN clerk, was shot dead on Friday afternoon and a probe was underway. Karnal DSP Sandeep Kumar said that the accused was serving a 20-year sentence in a murder case lodged at Kurukshetra and was out on parole. The motive behind the murder is not clear yet. He is suspected to have been hired as a contract killer, officials said.htc...
