New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has gone viral after switching to Bangla in a video promoting free Broadway tickets for the city's high-school students. Versions of the announcement were also shared in English, Mandarin and Spanish, but it was his Bangla turn that caught desi fans' attention. "Bengali now??? Man's just flexing at this point," joked one user. Another asked, "Wonder what level of Duolingo he is on...", while a fan approved: "Bangla on point bhai!" The video, posted on August 16, was Mamdani's multilingual push for a Broadway lottery launched three days earlier with the Theatre Development Fund. The initiative offered more than 2,000 free tickets to seven shows, including The Great Gatsby, Stranger Things: The First Shadow and In the Heights, with entries closing on August 17.
