Kurukshetra: Another NIT student dies by suicide, 3rd this month
Karnal, April 17 -- A female student at the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Kurukshetra, allegedly died by suicide at her hostel room on Thursday.
This is the fourth such incident at the institute since February, and the third this month.
Hostelmates found the 20-year-old student hanging in her hostel room. She was a native of Bihar and a second-year student at the institute.
Station house officer Vishal Kumar said that her family was informed about the incident and the reasons behind the extreme step remains under investigation.
Meanwhile, protests have erupted at NIT as students demanded justice and a thorough investigation into the year's string of student suicides.
A 22-year-old third-year Civil Engineering student from Sirsa was found hanging from a ceiling fan on April 8.
On April 1, another 22-year-old student, a native of Nuh district, had also died by suicide in the same hostel. Earlier, a 19-year-old Telangana student also died by hanging from a ceiling fan on the institute's campus in February. htc...
