KB DAV Senior Sec School celebrates Int'l Yoga Day
Chandigarh, July 2 -- Aligning with the official theme of the 12th International Day of Yoga which is "Yoga For Healthy Ageing" and the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP), the staff and the students, including the NSS volunteers, of KB DAV Senior Secondary Public School, Sector-7 B, Chandigarh held a 45-minute session on Yoga on its campus today.
The session emphasised the importance of Yoga for all ages for which Yoga must be incorporated into daily life. The session began with the chanting of Om Dhwani, and Gayatri Mantra. The Yoga Guru for the day Sandeep, while guiding the volunteers through different poses and asanas of Yoga said that yoga should not be limited to one day of observance, but should be practised regularly throughout the year.
He said that daily practice of Yoga, including self-created poses and asanas, can effectively manage metabolic and lifestyle disorders. Daily yoga performance enhances physical, mental and spiritual well-being of a person. Sandeep demonstrated some Yoga practices which are good for beginners - Mountain Pose (Tadasana), Child's Pose (Balasana), Cat-Cow Stretch (Marjaryasana-Bitilasana) , Downward-Facing Dog (Adho Mukha Svanasana) , Tree Pose (Vrikshasana) and Cobra Pose (Bhujangasana). He said that these basic yoga poses for health are challenging and dynamic as they develop strength, balance, and body awareness.
