India, July 31 -- G irl group KATSEYE member Sophia Laforteza has recently sparked debate among fans after announcing that she would miss the group's upcoming festival performance due to illness, with the discussion intensifying after she was later seen on a vacation. On Tuesday, KATSEYE announced (inset right) that Sophia would not be joining the group for their headlining set at the Hinterland Music Festival in Iowa, US, scheduled for Thursday at 10pm, as she was "resting and focusing on her recovery". The remaining members - Daniela, Lara, Megan and Yoonchae - performed without her. However, soon after the announcement, photos of Sophia at US' Catalina Island, reportedly taken days earlier, began circulating online. Some fans claimed she was on vacation with her alleged boyfriend, influencer Leon Barretto, leading to criticism over her decision to skip the festival performance. The conversation soon grew among KATSEYE fans, with many bringing up Sophia's previous comments about always showing up no matter what for schedules and fans.
