Judicial probe ordered after reports of 'rats nibbling' woman's body
ROHTAK, June 10 -- Reacting to the allegations that a woman's body was nibbled by rats at the Civil Hospital's mortuary, the Hisar district administration has ordered a judicial inquiry to ascertain facts and fix accountability.
According to officials, deputy commissioner Mahendra Pal has ordered a detailed investigation into the incident, leading to a protest by the agitating family members who blamed the authorities for poor maintenance. The woman, identified as Komal, had died while being shifted from a government hospital in Hansi to Civil Hospital, Hisar, for advanced medical treatment.
Doctors declared her dead on arrival, following which the body was placed in the mortuary for post-mortem examination. A district spokesperson said the inquiry, to be led by additional deputy commissioner Shalini Chetal, would ascertain circumstances that led to the incident and identify any lapses.
