Mohali, Aug. 5 -- St John's (Co-Ed) School, Kharar, celebrated International Tiger Day with great enthusiasm and dedication on July 29 to raise awareness about tiger conservation. The event witnessed the esteemed presence of Santosh Kumar Sahoo, international wildlife scientist and chairman, Conservation Himalayas, and MS Aruna Kumari Negi, international wildlife conservationist, Conservation Himalayas, as the chief guests. The celebration included interactive sessions, awareness talks, and presentations aimed at emphasising the importance of protecting tigers and preserving biodiversity. During the event, students actively engaged with the guests by asking insightful questions. One of the most intriguing questions posed to Sahoo was, "How can we identify individual tigers?" Sahoo explained that each tiger has a unique pattern of stripes, much like human fingerprints, which makes it possible to distinguish one tiger from another. Principal Poonam Ahuja extended her heartfelt gratitude to the distinguished guests for their valuable insights and contributions.
