Gurugram, Dec. 16 -- At least one acre of Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) land in Sector 66, allegedly captured and rented out by "two criminals," was cleared of permanent and temporary structures during a demolition drive by police and the district administration under heavy security on Monday, officers said. Police said the land was encroached nearly five years ago, with over 50 commercial establishments forming an unauthorised market complex. The nexus was allegedly operated by Narender Singh alias Tillu and his brother Ravi Singh from Ravidas Colony, Badshahpur, who ran the operation from inside Bhondsi jail, police said. A senior police official said the duo collected Rs.5-6 lakh monthly as rent from squatters, used to fund criminal activities. Sandeep Turan, public relations officer of Gurugram police, said Ravi has five criminal cases since 2018, while Narender has 13 cases, including murder and illegal firearms, registered between 2012 and September this year. Turan said both are jailed, and police are seeking production warrants. htc...
