Mohali, May 4 -- A 57-year-old man died after his bike was hit by a Punjab Roadways bus at Bansa Wali Chungi in Kharar, police said on Sunday. The mishap took place on April 26 and the victim, Major Singh, succumbed to his injuries at the PGIMER, Chandigarh. His wife Ravinder Kaur said he was taking a turn towards Sunny Enclave when the bus (PB08EW1198) struck the vehicle. The driver fled, leaving the bus on the spot. Passersby took him to the Kharar civil hospital where doctors, finding him critical, referred him to the civil hospital in Phase 6. He was later sent to the PGIMER where he underwent a surgery but did not regain consciousness. He died on Friday. The City Kharar police have registered a case under Sections 281 (rash driving) and 106(1) (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
