New Delhi, May 1 -- The Delhi High Court on Thursday restrained Priya Kapur, widow of businessman Sunjay Kapur, from alienating or transferring his assets while a suit challenging the validity of his will remains pending. Justice Jyoti Singh, finding the will's genuineness a matter for trial given the suspicious circumstances alleged, held that dissipation of assets before adjudication would deprive Sunjay's immediate legal heirs - his children and mother, who hold first claim under Hindu succession law - of their shares if the document is eventually found invalid. The order covers equity shareholdings in three Indian companies, funds in three bank accounts, provident fund amounts, personal artworks, foreign bank accounts, and cryptocurrency holdings.
