India, Sept. 15 -- A Sunday ride on Gurugram's Golf Course Road turned into a road-rage scare after biker Sia was allegedly chased and hit by a car while riding with a group. Viral action-camera footage shows the Haryana-registered sedan tailing the riders, cutting into her lane and colliding with her Aprilia RS 457, knocking her off. She was injured as the car drove away. Gurugram Police have taken suo motu cognisance and registered an FIR, though Sia has not yet filed a written complaint. Sia alleges the occupants kept following her after she asked them to maintain a safe distance. The incident has unsettled NCR's biking community, with riders saying such intimidation and reckless driving are not isolated. "We go on weekend rides to unwind, but witness at least two major incidents almost every month... It's not just Sia but most of us who face reckless drivers hit our bikes at high speeds, causing us to lose balance. Some even deliberately mess with us because they think it's fun!" says Noida-based rider Piya Sharma of Gurugram Bikers Community. Priya Verma of Gurgaon Bikers Club says such incidents are "particularly unnerving for newer riders". Krishna from The Bikerni biking group says the concern goes beyond reckless driving. "People see smaller or exposed vehicles like bikes as inconsequential targets rather than equal road users, and without strict, visible Police enforcement, this behaviour won't change." Ashok Mira, a trainer at D&S Two Wheeler Driving School, Vasant Kunj, stresses defensive riding and protective gear. "While we demand safer roads, one way riders can ensure about their own safety is by riding defensively." He recommends "CE-rated armour, ankle-covering boots and helmet cameras, which can also provide evidence when things go wrong"....
