Mohali, July 10 -- The Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) has invited online applications for the e-auction of three educational plots with a combined reserve price of Rs.92.98 crore to establish Kindergarten to Class 12 (K-12) or senior secondary schools in Mohali. According to a public notice issued by GMADA, online registration and bidding will commence at 12pm on Friday and remain open until 12pm on August 10. Following the closure of bidding, the technical bids will be evaluated, while the date for opening the financial bids of eligible applicants will be notified separately. The notice reads that the auction will be conducted under the two-envelope system in accordance with the Policy for Allotment of Education Plots for Establishment of K-12/Senior Secondary Schools by GMADA, 2025. The allotment process will comprise technical and financial bids. The authority has put up three educational sites with a combined reserve price of Rs.92.98 crore. These include a 2.5-acre plot in Sector 77 with a reserve price of Rs.23.74 crore, a 2-acre plot in Sector 79 priced at Rs.20.71 crore, and the largest 4.10-acre plot in Sector 66 (Beta, IT City) with a reserve price of Rs.48.53 crore. GMADA has specified that all three plots will be used exclusively for establishing K-12 and senior secondary schools. Interested educational institutions, trusts, societies and other eligible applicants can participate through the Punjab e-Procurement Portal, where detailed information regarding eligibility criteria, the application procedure, payment terms and other conditions has been made available. The authority said the entire auction process will be conducted online in a transparent and time-bound manner. Applicants have also been advised to regularly check the portal for any corrigendum, amendments, clarifications or extensions to the auction schedule, as no separate communication or public notice will be issued. GMADA officials said Mohali is rapidly emerging as both an education and information technology hub. With the growing demand for quality schools in the city's expanding residential sectors, the authority has decided to auction the plots to facilitate the establishment of modern educational institutions.
