Five pilgrims injured in road mishap
Jammu, July 11 -- Five Amarnath pilgrims were injured, one of them critically, after a vehicle they were travelling in met with an accident near Toldi Nullah in Udhampur district early Friday morning, said officials.
The accident involving an Ertiga vehicle took place at about 6.10 am.
"All five injured pilgrims were from Madhya Pradesh's Rewa district. Among them, a woman has suffered critical injuries," said a police officer.
The injured were identified as Subash Gupta, his wife Seema Gupta, Rajeev Gupta, Geeta Gupta and her husband Daleep Kumar Gupta, residents of Baikunthpur in Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh.
Immediately after the accident, CRPF personnel from 137 Battalion, soldiers civil defence volunteers and cops rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. The injured were taken to Government Medical College in Udhampur.
Union minister Jitendra Singh said he spoke to Udhampur deputy commissioner Minga Sherpa after receiving the report.
